It's no secret that 2020 was a bit of a whirlwind (to put it lightly) and people around the world have been spending more time in their homes than ever before. We worked from home, we isolated at home, we hosted virtual happy hours at home. You name it. So, when Behr Paint set out to create their yearly color trend palette for 2021, our collective need for comfort at home was top of mind.

“This has been a year of unpredictability and 2020 has significantly changed our relationship with our home. When our color team began exploring a palette for the coming year, we knew it needed to be grounded in what we’ve been craving: comfort and personalization,” says Erika Woelfel, vice president of color at Behr.

But just because comfort was a key factor in determining this year's palette doesn't mean the Behr team skimped on style for even a second.

“A new, elevated articulation of comfort goes beyond traditional beige, gray, and green hues, and embraces color in a way that can redefine and enhance any type of space inside or outside the home,” Woelfel continues.

The palette Behr decided on is comprised of 21 unique shades they predict will be all the rage when it comes to interior and commercial design in 2021. There are six distinct color themes within the palette as well, with shades paired together based on their stylistic compatibility. But that doesn't mean you're pigeonholed into choosing just one theme for your own home. All 21 colors work together, so you can mix and match until you find a style that fits your aesthetic best.

Read on to see the six color themes and 21 interior paint colors that Behr predicts will be most popular in 2021.
