Interior designers and other experts in the home industry work on an impressive number of spaces throughout their careers. But even if some of the makeovers and redesigns start to blend together after a few years, there are some rooms that are just truly unforgettable.
So, to give designers a chance to revisit their favorite projects—and to bring you plenty of inspiration for your own home—we’re sharing the one room these pros will remember forever. For some, there’s a sentimental connection, for others, there was an obstacle they never thought they’d overcome. But no matter what, these rooms are worth remembering.

Though celebrated designer Bria Hammel has designed dozens upon dozens of rooms, there's one she always comes back to. The founder of design firm Bria Hammel Interiors put together this stunning sunroom for a client in Fargo, North Dakota and loves that the space is a bit "unsuspecting."
"For a sunroom, there’s a grand presence to it with the vaulted ceilings, oversized chandelier, and luxe furnishings," Hammel tells MyDomaine. "We also love that although it’s located in the heart of North Dakota, this home can resonate with people all across the country. That’s the beauty of classic, timeless design and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out."

Some designs flow perfectly from the beginning, and this was one of them for the Bria Hammel Interiors team.
"I can actually remember the exact night our team and I designed this space," Hammel says. "It happened to be a night where a few of us were working late at the studio and the design flowed so effortlessly. One idea let to another and, before we knew it, the design was complete."

Though we love talking about the beauty of natural light here at MyDomaine, there can be too much of a good thing.
"Although it is a sunroom, one of our biggest obstacles was figuring out how to control just how much sun was let into the space," Hammel explains. "The windows in this room were skinny, so we had to mount custom blinds and draperies that fit their narrow frame but also allowed enough sun to get in without it glaring into our clients' eyes. By adding window treatments to the bottom windows and leaving the ones on top of them open, we created the perfect balance that left this room feeling bright, open, and airy."

Keeping the palette earthy and neutral was also important to crafting a sunny yet elevated space.
"The color palette and materials used in this space are very in line with our vision at Bria Hammel Interiors," Hammel explains. "We tend to favor designs that are livable, work well in many different seasons, and have a balance of modern and vintage."

Though it's hard to pick a favorite part of this room, Hammel is partial to the custom green, mohair stools.
"We love the pop of color they added to this otherwise neutral space while also mimicking the organic, natural surroundings of the room," Hammel explains. "It was the perfect accent color to incorporate into the room and are a piece I wish I had in my own home!"

Part of the success of this project was the relationship the team developed with the homeowners.
"We had the pleasure of connecting with our clients on a personal level and it was because of that and their unwavering trust in us that we felt we could design freely," Hammel says. "In our opinion, in the end that’s what made this space so beautiful."
