Though this stunning 6,297 square foot home is actually located in Scottsdale, Arizona, the architecture is purely Santa Barbara-inspired.

"There is a reason why that locale has created a large stylistic category so quintessentially recognizable," Kristen Forgione, the founder and principal designer of THELIFESTYLEDCO, design firm and retail shops, tells MyDomaine. "We wanted to ensure we could meet the individual needs of our clients, while paying homage to this style of architecture."

With lead designer Kylie Ray heading up the project, THELIFESTYLEDCO focused on the general flow and entertaining areas of the 2019 build, creating a home that fits right in with their signature style.

"This style of architecture plays so beautifully with the style we’ve created called, 'Organic Desert Living,'" Forgione tells MyDomaine. "The combination of warm tones mixed with crisp whites allows texture to be king, while keeping prominent cohesion in the muted color palette allowed us to bridge the gap between the desert and the coast."

When decorating for any home, the clients' needs are paramount to the success of the project.

"Our clients are simply the best," Forgione says. "They are well traveled but put so much emphasis on comfort at home, both for their everyday lives and for guests who travel from near and far to enjoy their company. They often entertain in large groups, so keeping the rooms open and easy to pass through was top of mind."

While most of us would love to have tons of space to decorate, the large size of this home actually posed a challenge, so the team spent time making sure each piece of furniture felt appropriate for each room.

"This space is just off the great room, so because of its proximity, it had to follow suit and be just as grand, yet casual and inviting," Forgione says. "Our clients love this nook for morning tea or a casual evening with take out!"

The dining room is a stunner with enough seating for a dinner party and a stand-out chandelier.

"Seating for 12 or a seat for one, this space captures a sophisticated feeling, perfect for any meal," Forgione says. "We designed every single element of this space around the Apparatus Twig 5 Chandelier because of its simplicity and and form. We chose to complement that lighting moment with three matching open armoires styled to the nines, and kept the the tabletop clear for now, allowing all of the texture throughout the space to shine."

This soothing guest bedroom is adorned in neutral colors, a mix of textures, and just the right amount of accessories.

"In all guest bedrooms we want to create a serene environment that is both comforting and welcoming," Forgione says. "All rooms in this home have King beds, adjacent nightstands with charging stations, and a bench or chair close by.

The other guest bedroom offers the same features and color scheme, which makes the space feel equally as serene.

"We kept the home true to 'Organic Desert Living' with tonal, muted colors in a balanced palette but ultimately left as much white space as we could!"

The great room boasts plenty of seating and natural light, making it the perfect place to unwind or entertain.

"As the most grand space in the home, scale was a predominant factor in our furniture design," Forgione says. "Our clients have a large family and wanted to seat as many people as possible without compromising aesthetics."

Our favorite part of this home? The lounge, of course, located just steps away from the front door, featuring a custom-built bar with iodized mirrored tiles that draw the eye up.

"So many rooms in this floor plan have fireplaces but we wanted this one to feel different," Forgione explains.

Due to the size of the primary bedroom, the team made a concerted effort to make it cozier and more intimate.

Primary Bedroom

The term "Primary Bedroom" is now widely used to describe the largest bedroom in the home, as it better reflects the space’s purpose. Many realtors, architects, interior designers, and the Real Estate Standards Association have recognized the potentially discriminatory connotations in the term "Master." "We chose to place his-and-hers velvet chaises beside the fireplace for reading, meditating, or just talking," Forgione says. "We also selected matching area rugs to anchor both areas within the same space, but not create tension between the zones. Tranquility and calmness were supremely important while making sure both parts of this couple were equally represented."

Forgione's favorite piece in the home lives in the primary.

"We found and purchased a single black marble dining table from a market we were traveling to and held it for months and months waiting for the perfect place to put it," Forgione says. "It basically staked claim in the primary bedroom, placed perfectly between the his-and-hers chaises."

Though many homeowners are most concerned with the kitchen or primary bedroom, this couple wanted to make sure they got the music room right as well.

"They travel on the road whenever possible, following their favorite bands from decades past and they wanted a space here at home to continue that vibe," Forgione explains. "Adding this very bold wallpaper helped give this space, which was secluded in the footprint of the home, instant character. We kept all of the furniture plump and cozy while also adding a game table in the back for puzzle making or playing chess."

Though most of the home is filled with neutral walls, the home office is one space that deviates from that blueprint.

"We took a risk with deep color in this space, but one that was commanding enough to keep the client grounded and focused," Forgione says. "The built-in cabinetry and wall color absolutely transformed this space and maximized storage and functionality!"

The team frequently looks to travel, fashion, and foreign design for décor inspiration, as is made evident in this eclectic pool area.

"We heavily monitor art and design from other countries, along with fashion via Pinterest, print publications, and blogs," Forgione says. "We also make it a firm-wide goal to travel as often as possible both personally and professionally. We feel like our time outside of our immediate area contributes to all senses and brings us closer to design inspiration from anywhere and everywhere."

The lounge area opens directly onto the back porch, thanks to a pair of fully-retractable sliding glass doors. The area offers identical daybed swings and a dining table for six, perfect for outdoor entertaining.

Though there was plenty of space to work with in this home, THELIFESTYLEDCO's philosophy is simple: In the words of Vivienne Westwood, "'Buy less. Choose well.'"

While there are many wonderful features in this home, Forgione's favorite part is the depth of the design.

"Every time we view the photography of the space, we are reminded of a piece or a moment that we just fall in love with over and over again," she says.
