Inside a Former Bachelorette's Modern Farmhouse-Inspired Home

When it came time for former Bachelorette star Ali Fedotowsky to redecorate her home in Studio City, California, she paid particular attention to one room. "Most people say the kitchen is the heart of the home but let’s face it when you have a newborn and a two-year-old you’re not spending a ton of time cooking," she says on her website. "Most of my time is spent on the couch nursing my son and trying to distract/occupy my daughter," so naturally the family room was a focal point.

Fedotowsky and her husband, Kevin Manno, teamed up with Wayfair and interior designer Veronica Valencia in 2018 to create their ideal family home. With a bright color palette, plenty of natural light, and modern farmhouse-inspired touches, there's no doubt the family will love it for years to come.

"I really wanted the space to feel cozy and inviting. But, at the same time, I wanted a white couch!" she says. To make the living room feel inviting, Valencia added rustic farmhouse décor, such as an oversized clock, ceramic vases, and a wood coffee table. "[We] decorated around it for everything to feel cozier," says Fedotowsky.

Fedotowsky revealed in a blog post on her website that the secret to keeping their couch white is to protect it with sheets. She goes on to admit that when the kids get older, the sheets will likely come off. However, they do come off when guests are over. Plus, "This sectional can be customized on Wayfair.com and you can choose from a variety of fabrics," she writes.

A console/buffet table helps to divide the living room area and kitchen area, while big white table lamps behind the white couch add height to the room, which Fedotowsky says the room desperately needed. Also, "they're just so grand and gorgeous looking!" she writes. Additionally, Fedotowsky points out in her blog post that "the farmhouse tin next to one of the lamps with the faux olive branches in it is just a cute detail that gave the space more of a farmhouse feel, which is something I really wanted."

Initially, Fedotowsky thought that the awkward area beneath the stairs might make a good reading nook. Instead, daughter Molly's playroom fits perfectly in the "random nook at the bottom of the staircase," according to Fedotwosky. And, for parents who need to keep a close eye on their little ones, the location of the playroom is "right off the kitchen and family room so Molly can go play in there while I’m making dinner or doing whatever around the house."

The Manno home's formal living room keeps Ali's love for white throughout. Their dog, Owen, particularly loves this room. "This couch is Owen’s favorite spot in our entire house to take naps," she writes.

Molly's bedroom also features blackout blinds, which Fedotowsky says is essential.
