Most of us could always use a little more storage space, especially if you live in an apartment or small home. That being said, for those of us who aren't blessed with a designated linen closet, things can get tricky.
Instead of shoving your clean linens in any nook and cranny you can find in your overstuffed closet, try one of these 16 ideas.
Choose Double Duty Seating
:strip_icc():format(webp)/156325744_439052707206849_7090735766803749327_n-229fc7ee6e924591a4628100a32b17e1.jpg)
Keep your linens close to where you need them—like right in your bedroom. A bench at the foot of the bed not only acts as stylish seating, but it can serve as hidden storage.
Take the top off the bench and you've got plenty of space for sheets and towels. Or, you could even use the space to store your throw pillows away at night. If you don't have room at the end of your bed, consider using the bench as a window seat instead.
Baskets are Your Friends
:strip_icc():format(webp)/52397794_141262700242764_4190232361299654963_n-707646979ef944229be4a6a55ba421ea.jpg)
You can never, ever have too many baskets. Not only do they add a certain boho or farmhouse element to your space, but they are incredible organizational tools. Toss in extra throw blankets in the living room or even roll up your sheets and put them in the bedroom.
In the bathroom? Roll up your towels and place them in a basket for instant spa vibes.
Use a Hamper
:strip_icc():format(webp)/162404912_488292075866562_5245145057752405218_n-7d5ac2d24dd54fb199d73f8ab971105a.jpg)
Who said hampers can only be used for dirty laundry? Having a cloth or wicker hamper in your bathroom is the perfect place to store clean, folded towels. Just make sure your guests know it isn't meant for items that need to be washed.
Use Shelving as an Open Closet
:strip_icc():format(webp)/200172488_240508130747794_479196014579389311_n-18baff2a3d7c48e0a62f215673b91111.jpg)
Using shelves as storage can be a moment as long as things remain organized. Neatly folded towels can easily live on the bottom or top of bookshelves in a hallway, bathroom, or bedroom. Bonus points if you also utilize baskets as extra organization tools.
Label Everything
:strip_icc():format(webp)/92357935_1625368057610252_4736202735853247925_n-793aebbcaba84d93a52c19d67b201f4c.jpg)
When you're short on storage, it's important to use whatever space you have to its fullest capacity. If you have a coat closet somewhere in your home, add a shelf for linens or even consider adding shelves to empty walls if you can. Then, add labeled baskets to keep everything organized and easy to find.
Hide Linens in Drawers
:strip_icc():format(webp)/UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_18c4c-11f6e4c10f1e43abadfd8523d2249255.jpeg)
If you're blessed with extra drawer space, roll up your towels and hide them away. For smaller items like dish towels and washcloths, you can use a drawer divider to keep them nice and tidy.
Don't want to buy adjustable drawer dividers? Cut a piece of sturdy cardboard to fit snugly in your drawer instead.
Don't Forget Space Under the Sink
:strip_icc():format(webp)/122897308_360838268587126_3018893200914138162_n-32c3071607ac4be1b310dc6733f3b48f.jpg)
Despite it being a place you don't want to have to look at, the space under your kitchen or bathroom sink can be the ultimate storage solution. Use clear bins to corral small, loose items, and use trays or boxes to keep towels and washcloths folded and stacked tidily.
Put Them on Display
:strip_icc():format(webp)/23421966_902531036566011_904097376086523904_n-e1f980db87e44b18a5ccfccab0cc2e10.jpg)
Putting your linens away doesn't mean you have to hide them. If you neatly fold or roll your towels and sheets, they can happily live on the shelf under your sink or anywhere out in the open.
Hide Linens Under Your Bed

Nobody needs to know what's under your bed, so hide whatever you can under it. Not only is this space that would otherwise be unused, but it's often hidden, which means no visible clutter.
Store sheets and towels in slim under-bed bins or fabric storage bags to keep them dust-free. If you can see the bins under your bed frame, you can easily hide them with a bedskirt or large, flowy comforter or duvet.
Use Dressers in Unexpected Places
:strip_icc():format(webp)/54247251_1988653351232522_927786315000083651_n-15c40ce0fe6541fd808c7ae08ce5c1a2.jpg)
Dressers don't have to stay in your bedroom. Place one in your hallway as an entryway table or storage for winter items, using any leftover drawer space for linens. Or, if you put one in the living space, it can do double duty as a TV stand and linen storage. You could also do the same thing with a credenza or buffet—that's the beauty of hiding things behind doors and drawers.
Get Creative with Cabinetry
:strip_icc():format(webp)/66056130_180763819595848_2208593435073357382_n-7ead8b3c61314164ace7a6714b15dfed.jpg)
If you don't have a linen closet to use, create your own. A tall cabinet with doors will hide any clutter you have, while also allowing you to neatly stack and fold towels, sheets, and more. If you want to go the extra mile, invest in shelf dividers to keep each category of item in its place.
Old "pie safes" or medicine cabinets are perfect for storing linens thanks to their open, roomy shelves. You can also score these cabinets at yard sales or flea markets for an affordable price.
Utilize the Backs of Doors
:strip_icc():format(webp)/84026017_1036593003371121_8427473115325853533_n-69ffacbeebb049f6bbd4f14c9081a701.jpg)
A door is often at least six feet of vertical space, so why not use it? An adjustable rack on the back of a door can hold towels, washcloths, and just about any other bathroom essential you may need. Or, add a rack to the inside of a closet door to stow away folded sheets and pillowcases.
Roll Towels Tightly
:strip_icc():format(webp)/47277254_1055625741287149_715597641764545205_n-67cc0aed94dc4cf9ac804d7595151666.jpg)
It's the ultimate space-saving technique for both packing and storage: rolling. After folding your towels into a rectangle lengthwise and rolling tightly. From there, you can store them on a shelf, in a basket, or even in a hidden trash bin.
Hooks Save Space
:strip_icc():format(webp)/13739595_306769463000409_1655046281_n-6580f3be4dce4af98ab1dbe9726dd003.jpg)
Perhaps the easiest and most affordable way to store towels is by using wall hooks. You can find just about anything to fit your style, from bright and bold knobs to understated wood pegs. They even double as a place to dry your towel after a nice shower.
Find Hidden Storage

So many pieces of furniture can serve dual purposes if you plan it right. This bench may traditionally be for shoe storage, but you could easily use it as a hall bench or in your bedroom to hide away linens, workout gear, or even underwear.
Fold and Stack

The key to keeping things neat and tidy is folding your linens. It takes a little more time, but the end result is worth it. If you use the KonMari method, you can easily have items like towels and clothing stand up on their own, minimizing their footprint and the space they take up in your home. They'll even be cute enough to display in open bins on a shelf.
